Genesis 1:

27 So God created man

in his own image.

in the image of God

he created him;

male and female

he created them (NIV)

God created man in his own image after he had said, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over…” God created him, according to this record. But the word should be them which is the word in the last line. The same speech pattern is also followed further in the narrative. This is the book of the generation of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; male and female created them, and called their name Adam, in the day they were created (Genesis 5:1-2). The Holy Spirit, the Writer, sees a unit whole, a being to be part of the godhead: man, him. Then, male and female. Just as the church is here on earth to display Christ. Jesus is the Head of the Church. The structure is a unit whole following the physiology and biology of all the systems of the body. For a healthy body, all the systems,organs and tissues perform their functions seamlessly without the person trying to follow the lines of functions; he is not even aware. The male is the female; the female is the male. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church and the Church is the body of Christ: this is the mystery of Adam, male, and Adam, female. We here speak of the oneness that is called the Body. The body is the physical by which an organism displays its characteristics; the Church expresses Christ. If the world wants to know who Christ is in reality, it’s not when it ascends to heaven before Christ can be decipher; He is not far off. The world only needs to look around for the Church and will see the Head in the Body.

Adam in the Garden of Delight.

And the Lord God planted a garden in the eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed (Genesis 2:8).

Our story returns to the beginning before the coming of the female Adam. God put the created Adam in the garden of Eden (delight). Four different bodies of water irritated this garden and it was in the east of Eden. This was a location, a part of the vast, solid earth. God lavished the man Adam with abundance of love manifested in divine provisions, care and tools of instructions to navigate to the safety of his destiny: And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every plant that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 12:9).

Eden is delight. Jesus Christ is the delight of God. Adam in this garden is significant. It means, Adam, your job is cut out for you; your purpose is to explore and become the delight of God. Meaning that Adam was to be the delight of God. This far we have come, but the Holy Spirit, in his narration of divine history, said later through Apostle Paul “……as did Adam who was a pattern of the one to come” (Romans 5:14). The story of Adam failed to be ‘and they became happy thereafter.’ This Adam who was a pattern…failed. Another Adam, the second Adam did come to fulfil the prophetic pattern cut out in the beginning of human history. Let’s pause and recap. Adam in God’s purpose was to be the figure or pattern of Him to come; Adam was to be Him in all His attributes and nature. This is Eternal Life; the very justification of his existence.

But first, this Adam must go through child trainings to attain the purpose of his creation.

Lord, it is certainly awesome to answer to creation, to be first born, as of the earth; and re-created as of one born from heaven. We are first earthy, now we are of heaven. Who can do those things but You. Thank You Lord for it seems good to You. Your grace is more than enough to accomplish this plan of the ages
