Genesis 3:

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any other beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Yes, had God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the tree s of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil

6 And when the woman saw that the tree waw good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband; and he did eat

God created all things, including the earth, for man so that he might be like the Lord God both in character and nature. Man, the centre of God’s love, still had to go through divine processing to come to the fullness or complete form of the life of God. It’s after he might have come to this spot that God would realise His investment of love and labour in him. Remember, man wasn’t created perfect or imperfect; man wasn’t created mortal or immortal; nor was he yet eternal, the likeness of God. The journeying to these constitute the processing. God created man and made him a living soul, though he was to become, through divine dealings and disciplining unto unto obedience, a life-giving spirit just as it eventually happened in the ages that later followed. Man’s goal was to end in becoming Son of God. Jesus, the Word, became man. He was neither a fully formed man nor incomplete – the express image of God’s person, yet he was to become Son. After 30 years of being a citizen of the earth, the Lord Jesus Christ came to John to be baptised. There and then God testified of this man who called himself the Son of man, Thou art my beloved Son in thee I am well pleased (Luke 3:22). Three more years, and in the presence of three disciples and geeat two dead prophets, on a mount, the same God’s voice: This is my beloved Son, hear him (Luke 9:35).

Let’s go over the list of God’s vision for man again: the likeness of God – eternal life, God’s type of life – including immortality and being in His presence as well as administering the earth.

The outline of the course of becoming Son was presented to Adam in the garden of Eden. He saw it clearly that it would go through being disciplined unto obedience. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered (Hebrew 5:8). The longing of the Father’s heart was for sons.

Who is son?

Son, from the view point and mind of God, is the full expression of the vision and thought of God. Son is the person by whom God speaks and makes Himself known. It is in the Son you can see the invisible God. Jesus Christ said to Philip, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (God) (John 14:9). The Son is the sum total thought of God in creation. The Son expresses the heart of the Father. The invisible God speaks through the visible Son. Hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son..,.(Hebrews 1:2).By looking at the Son, it’s easy to see God in his essence and characters. Angels and heavenly beings are not given this privilege. As a matter of fact, angels are learning of the awesome wisdom of God through man, the man that has come to be Son through the Church of God. To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly… might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10)

Father, thank You for the privilege of sonship we have in You. We are beholding, as it were, ourselves in a glass, mirror, Your glory. And we are changed into the same IMAGE from glory to glory, even by the Spirit of the Lord.

Thank You, Lord
