Genes 3:

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gave me to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat

13 And the Lord God said to the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this thou art cursed above all cattles, and every beast of the field, upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the life

15 And I will put an enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heels.

The Lord God told the first couple in His garden not to dare eating the tree of knowledge of good and evil, warning that they would be dying if they did. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of all the tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. The Hebrew cast it as, eating thou shalt eat. The warning against the the tree of knowledge of good and evil is “thou shalt surely die.” The margin reads, “dying thou shalt die. These are significant because of their elements of continuos verbs of eating and dying. We submitted in the previous meditation that eating means believing. Continuos hearing brings faith. Casting one’s lot with the more voluble of the trees was out of constant hearing of and from it. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing with the word of God. It means that the decision to go on with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil wasn’t a one time encounter. There had been encounters and longing before the final release of faith and trust.

As soon as the decision to cast the lot with the tree was taken, sin was set into motion and the desire from man to it became overwhelming. The path to the ordained glory of God also disappeared. This phenomenon is called the fall. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin could only be set into motion because man rebelled against the loving authority of God. Sin here means the operating principle or its law of lordship over man. Following hard on its heels was death which became lord of man. ….by one man’s offence death resigned….(Romans 5:17). Yes, death became king through one man’s sin; death reigns through the principle of sin over all, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression (Romans 5:14).

Obedience to rebel against the desire of God to enjoy the Father-son relationship with man was truncated, and a monster was spawned; man became a monster that couldn’t go on with God. It was now time for God to also put into motion the mystery which He spawned from the foundation of the world, even before this mishap, instead of destroying man and starting all over again . We did hint that God’s glorious plan was birthing of Christ in man so that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

But man saw another man-glorious existence independent of God’s irritating pognosing and chose the life, even if devoid of immortality and Eternal Life! And my, didn’t he show an amazing rebuff! By this action, first, conscience intervened in the man, then came the building of culture, arts, music and, of course, for excitement, commerce. Then in the modern time, his technologies and science and inventions are something else! It’s been laborious to get to this point, but breathtaking in these last days

But, we jumped above our meditations.

God judged the deceiver-serpent: “And I will put an enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heels.” This is the prophecy of outright overwhelming defeat to the serpent called Satan.

This is where it gets more interesting: the promise of a seed of the woman who will bruise the head of the serpent. The God of peace, prays apostle Paul, shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly (Romans 16:29).

Pa Austin Theodore Spark says that this first prophecy in the bible was potent. Continuing, he says that it meant that God was addressing Satan, the serpent: “I will get back at you for doing this. I will come back to defeat you, no, I will not defeat you as God; but I will defeat you as MAN.

This is the MYSTERY MAN and He is called Jesus Christ.

God of glory, thank You for then; thank You for now. For just as You promised then, You defeated the enemy of man today as MAN – not as God – and bringing Your sons to glory. And, Father, it’s awesome to be among the brethren of the Lord.

Thank, You Lord, for this
