Hebrews 6:

2 Instructions about baptisms….

We are reflecting on the life and ways of Noah in Genesis the sixth to eighth chapter and how they impact our generations in pressing into Christ. The sons of God have just invaded the earth. These sons make good selections from among the beautiful daughters of men and marry them. The sons of God are against God’s plan to bring redemption to man – for in this reality is their defeat and destruction. By intermingling with human race in need of rebirth, however, they interbreed with them to produce another race completely outside the mind of the Creator. In the NIV, the phrase the sons of God is rendered angels. Giants are the outcome of this strange adventure. The earth become instantly full of violence. These giants, the nephilims, are even described as men of renown (Genesis 6:4). These are not only imbued merely with feral violent energy, but with extraordinary wisdom and knowledge. The world has made a long journey back home in our days to the days of the nephilims, the men of renown. Watch mankind playing God today! It’s so daring that they tag one of their recent inventions as De-extinction or resurrection. They took the DNA of a prehistoric wolf and injected it into the production cells of modern wolf and produced a completely different species with both characteristics of the prehistoric wolf and the modern manifest. More of the acts of men renown will continue to haunt us soon in the days to come. Mankind is swiftly approaching the days of Noe when, by science and technology, God becomes irrelevant in the thoughts of men. In the days of Noah, God decides to wipe off the abnormal creations who are neither purely human nor purely spirit beings. But Noah found grace in the eyes of God. Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and walked with God (Genesis 6:8-9). Noah found grace just as I have found grace in the eyes of God. The grace I received is far superior to Noah’s as this favour brought me to the pursuit and holding me down into participating in divine nature by God’s promises. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through oir knowledge of him… Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption that is in the world caused by evil desires (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Noah and his family perhaps constitute the last pure human breed still standing. He’s part of the remnants of God’s lovers throughout history. There will always be a remnant no matter the darkness upon the earth. God instructs Noah to build an ark, a unique ship, to escape the hasting destruction. The response of Noah is that of fear and faith. ..By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen in holy fear, built an ark to save his family (Hebrews 11:7). One peculiarity of men after the heart of God is holy fear that spurs to faith – the leaning of the heart on God even in the face of contradictory experiences).  Men who walk with God pursue one goal in their lives by faith – to establish His rights on the earth. They don’t seek God for self-serving purposes, for this or that earth-defined blessings – as vomited from the pulpits in our own days. Establishing the rights of God on earth defines the kingdom of God on earth. We do this most times through

The brewing catastrophe on earth and the drowning of mankind in death by water is typed out in the New Testament as a baptism in water. and this water symbolized baptism that now saves you also – not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of good conscience towards God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:22). Baptism was commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ before He went to the cross. The fact that it’s less practised today hasn’t made it less relevant. Christ instructed his disciples, …baptising them in the name of the Father , and of the son and of the Holy Spirit (Mathew 28:19). It’s John the Baptist that is recorded in the bible as dipping men into and out of river water. Here’s the meaning given by Paul: Therefore we are bury with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in the newness of life (Romans 6:4). Noah and his family in this experience are buried (in water-grave) and are raised again to life. Baptism, from the Greek word, baptiso is of an object assuming the characters of of whatever it’s dipped into. Being baptised by the Holy Spirit means that such individual has become in all characters, Christ. I died with Him and resurrected with Him. I am everything that He is!

The believers in the Lord Jesus are, says 1 Corinthians 12:13, baptised by one Spirit into the body (of Christ) just as Israelites were baptised unto Moses in the cloud and sea (1 Corinthians 10:2). I have been baptised by the Holy Spirit into Christ, into His body.

Then there’s the baptism by of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said to his disciples: For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5). Further more, Jesus said to His disciples, …you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness (Acts 1:8). Ten days after this statement, after the ascension of the Christ, after pentecost day, All of them (the disciples) were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them (Acts 2:2-5). Speaking in tongue is one feature of being baptised with the Holy Spirit.

Our last reflection shall be on babtism of fire. John the Baptist says of the coming Baptiser who is greater than himself who will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire (Mathew 3:11). Fire, says Vine’s Expository Dictionary, is used as symbolic of that which tries the faith of saints, producing what will glorify the Lord. Jesus Christ said to James and John who wanted to be at either side of his throne in his kingdom, …can you drink the cup I drink or be baptised with the baptism I am baptised with? (Mark 10:38). It speaks of trials of the hardest order. An example, Now…Herod,… killed James the brother of John with the sword (Acts 12:1-2). Peter later writes, That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire….(1 Peter 1:7).

Father thank You for the Holy Spirit baptising us into Christ, making us assume all that He is.

Thank You Lord for this
